Taking on a leadership role within your dance studio can be tough to navigate but successful leaders tend to have the following qualities:
1. They learn from their mistakes and are humble enough to analyze where they went wrong and take action towards preventing it again
2. Leaders give others credit where credit is due and take responsibility for their own shortcomings and failures (no one is perfect!)
3. They help others to grow and they take the time to develop a new generation of leaders. They are not afraid to delegate responsibilities in order to have the time to invest in other areas of the business.
4. Great leaders provide solid direction and aren’t afraid to collaborate with their team. They are good at motivating their team towards the studios goals.
5. They are trustworthy and are open and transparent with information. They are also authentic and aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
6. Good leaders not only provide guidance and support but they are willing to pitch in and help. They acknowledge strengths and talents in others and are not afraid to vocalize this in order for their team to feel valued.
I know we can all get caught up in the business of our business that we forget that we are setting the example for others within our team. Demonstrate what it means to be a good leader and your team will follow in your footsteps.
